All ceramic crowns are made from a special compressed ceramic which is extremely
hard and durable. It is a highly aesthetic restoration as it has no metal
framework or skeleton underneath and so light may pass through freely the way it
does with natural teeth. You may have seen somebody smile and noticed a gray discoloration
around the neck of the tooth by his / her gum line. This grayness is the
reflection of light from the metal underneath the porcelain at the collar of the
crown. With all ceramic crowns this ugly grayness is never a problem.
